The largest ever gathering of Notre Dame Alumni took place on Saturday 6th December 2008, on the occasion of the school’s annual Christmas Carols and Fireworks Extravaganza.

On the night we had ladies there from 1940 to almost the present day. We had old head girls, old head mistresses and a pupil who had attended the school then taught music here and now retired, and second-generation former pupils.
 
There were approaching 100 people, some of whom had not been back to the School for decades. One former pupil wondered if our girls still went up to the bridge over the river, dropped their hat in and then ran back to the School to see if they could retrieve it before it went past Notre Dame!
 
Here's what some of them had to say:
When I arrived at Notre Dame on Saturday evening the 6th Dec 2008, I was immediately surrounded by faces I had not seen for many, many years. It was a revelation just to see them all again – some I found difficult to recognize!
The whole scene brought back so many memories of really happy days as Head of Notre Dame Senior School – many of the 'old' girls are now Mums or Grand-Mums!
We all hope to meet again when the weather is kinder.
 A very big thank you to Mrs Kesterton and helpers who made the evening such a great success. I really felt at home again.

A most sincere thank you from all the sisters for such a wonderful reunion of the Alumni. The largest gathering ever and the most varied age range. Some of the Alumni came and introduced themselves to me; before they were only names, now I will remember each one with affection. Barbara Walsh told me she left Notre Dame 60 years ago! I thought they all looked rather well for their age...
 
 
I had such a lovely time at the reception and can't wait until the next one.
