Congratulations to the Year 12 Chemistry Team – Notre Bam! – who, last night, following their sensational performance at the London Schools’ Chemistry Challenge Final, triumphed to become the outright winners of the prestigious award.

They were highly commended by the panel of judges for their presentation on polymers which involved drama, music and chemical knowledge given in a highly polished and amusing format.

  • Surrey County Netball Finals

Notre Dame U16 are Semi-finalists in Surrey County Netball Finals on Sunday 11th March 2012.
Having qualified for the Surrey Finals tournament earlier in the season the team had prepared well knowing they would be up against the best netballers in the County.

All the games were challenging, and it was a great start to beat Epsom College 7-5 and Cheam High 11-6. Notre Dame narrowly lost 11-12 in a nail biting game against Caterham; this meant they needed to win the last two games in their section. A scoreline of 11-7 against Alleyns and 10-9 against Tormead placed Notre Dame in the semi-final. The players produced some of their best performances of the season; excellent defending was evident from every player especially Caitlin Moran, Olivia Barrett and Mary Harrison. In the centre court Hattie Battle and Amy Clayton brought the ball out of defence and produced well executed passes into the attacking third. Even under pressure the shooters Joanna Simpson and Kirsty Marsh created dynamic openings and converted most of their chances at goal. The semi-final was an intense battle, with Notre Dame up 4-3 at half-time it was goal for goal until the last two minutes when Guildford clinched it. This placed Notre Dame in the 3rd/4th place in Surrey.
Well done to all the Notre Dame players and thanks to the reserves Eleanor McLaughlin and Alice Cadman for their support.
