Preparing for Senior School

By the time your daughter reaches Prep 6 she will be well prepared for onward movement and ready to tackle the rigours of secondary education.

Over the previous years you will have seen her grow in confidence and maturity, both academically and mentally. Supported by the staff and Sisters, she will be completely ready for that next step. The entrance examination to the Senior School is sat in January of the year of entry (Year 7, age 11). This covers Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning.

Naturally, we hope you will choose Notre Dame Senior School, but should you, or we, feel this is inappropriate for your daughter, we will make strenuous efforts to advise on the best onward path.

"The strong focus on the value of each individual enables pupils to grow rapidly in self-esteem and confidence"
"Pupils show consideration and respect for their teachers and for each other"

2011 Independent Schools Inspectorate Report

"Pupils are articulate and highly capable"

2011 Independent Schools Inspectorate Report

“Pupils follow a demanding and imaginative curriculum and are successful in entry to the senior schools of their choice, including the award of scholarships” and “Their personal development benefits from a carefully planned programme of personal, social and health education. Parents and pupils commend the wide range of clubs and opportunities outside the classroom”.

ISI Inspection Report 2011

2007 Independent Schools Inspectorate Report

“Teachers know their pupils well and care is taken to ensure that they build on what they have already learnt. The pupils’ successes are due, in large part, to the excellent teaching”.

2011 ISI Inspection Report

“The pupils’ overall achievement from the EYFS onwards is outstanding and represents the successful fulfilment of the school’s aim to strive for personal academic excellence.”

2011 Independent Schools Inspectorate Report

"No matter what the child’s academic ability, the school endeavours to find the individual’s special gift"
Preparatory School Parent

“Excellent leadership and management are reflected in the pupils’ outstanding overall achievement and personal development. The hallmark of the management is that nothing is left to chance, with meticulous attention to detail. Teamwork is of a high order.”

2011 ISI Inspection Report

"Relationships between staff and pupils, and amongst the pupils themselves, are excellent.   Parents appreciate the care provided for their children. Pupils are confident, caring and keen to celebrate the success of others. Pupils of all ages have outstandingly well-developed personal qualities.”

2011 Independent Schools Inspectorate Report

"The transition of pupils from one year to the next is carefully managed and leavers are well prepared for life after school. Leavers' self-reliance, sense of responsibility and ability to manage their own independent learning are well developed as a matter of policy."
