District Athletics Gold Medal Winners
Congratulations to our NDPS Athletics Team who won 9 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze medals at Elmbridge District sports this week.
On Wednesday afternoon Mrs Jones and Mrs Evans, accompanied by Mr Plummer, took a team of twenty five athletes to the District Sports held at the Stompond Lane Athletics Ground, Walton. This is a major event involving eighteen schools from the Elmbridge borough.
In the running events, every NDPS girl and team either won or came second in their heat and so qualified for the finals. In the finals every girl and team were placed, with Ella Diack winning the under 9 sprint and our Year 5 team winning the relay.
Pauline and Daisy represented NDPS in the 600 metres and both won their races very convincingly with the rest of the field trailing a long way behind.
In the field events the girls again achieved outstanding results either winning or coming second in long jump and overarm ball throw.
The NDPS girls were also impeccably behaved and disciplined; focussed when necessary but cheering each other on and very sportingly supporting the weaker athletes from other schools as they finished. It was a wonderful afternoon and we are very proud of our girls. Thank you too, to the parents who came and supported us and accompanied the girls to their events.
