Montaigne Theatre
Breath on the Embers
A large cast of Year 8 to Year 12 students are working very hard in evening and weekend rehearsals for the official inaugural production in the new Montaigne Theatre. This is a new work, especially commissioned for the event, which tells the story of St Jeanne de Lestonnac in play format for the very first time. With words by David Kenzie and music by Dr Robin Fenton, we follow the life of St Jeanne from her teenage years and see how historical events such as the Black Death and the French Revolution played their part in her life and legacy. Three actresses will play the part of St Jeanne at different stages in her life.
Jeanne de Lestonnac (Breath on the Embers) - ‘A school for girls? What a remarkable idea. I have always thought such a thing should exist’
