Hearing loss in childhood meant Alumna Catherine Harrison couldn’t spell her own name when she arrived at Notre Dame in Year 4. But look at her now…..

‘If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough’ – that’s what Catherine Harrison wrote in the ND6 Yearbook at the end of Year 13. Five years later, she has not one but two degrees from the University of Loughborough!

Catherine Harrison Masters in Sports Management

Catherine’s first degree was Geography, but sport has always been her real passion and she was thrilled recently to be awarded a BSc Master’s in Sport Management with Distinction. Such a qualification from the world’s leading university in sport proves how far she has come since those days in Year 4. As her mother Michele says: “Catherine suffered significant hearing loss as a child and needed extra support when she joined the Prep school. In those days, we didn’t dare to think about university but, with help, hard work and determination she has achieved beyond her wildest dreams. Thank you to all the teachers at Notre Dame who helped her along the way!”

Catherine now plans to travel – when Covid allows – and then seek a career in sport event management. With such an impressive start to her CV, we’re sure she’ll soon be building an equally impressive career! Good luck Catherine and congratulations on your fantastic achievement – you are an inspiration to all our students.
