It has been wonderful to see all Year 5 and Year 6 girls embrace our new Reading Challenge this term. Their feedback has been incredibly positive and many have found inspiration through their reading.
New books that have arrived in school this week include Women in Science by Rachel Ignotofsky which celebrates the contributions of 50 incredible women to the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths. The book looks at famous figures such as Marie Curie who coined the word ‘radioactivity’ and discovered ‘radiation’. Marie created a unit of x-ray trucks to help wounded soldiers in the First World War. It also looks at lesser-known pioneers such as Alice Ball, the African-American chemist who researched leprosy and found a cure for it in the early 1900s.
My hope is that you will also find some time at home to look at and chat about the book together!
Have a lovely weekend.
