🌾 Infant Assembly: Advent
This week’s Infant Assembly was all about Advent. Mrs Hunt explained its meaning as the start of the Christian year, which begins four weeks before Christmas on the Sunday closest to 30th November and lasts until Christmas Eve. Advent is a special time for Christians to prepare for Christmas and enjoy time with family and friends.
The children learned how Advent is celebrated in churches with an Advent wreath, a circle of evergreen branches holding four candles and a fifth in the centre. Each Sunday, a new candle is lit until all four are burning. These candles represent Hope, Joy, Love, and Peace, and the fifth candle is lit on Christmas Day to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Mrs Hunt also spoke about Christingle and shared how Advent traditions are observed around the world. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about this important season of reflection and celebration.
