U12s A–D vs St Catherine’s School
On a sunny afternoon, the U12s headed to St Catherine’s School for a full round of fixtures. While the results didn’t all go our way, there were some standout individual performances and valuable lessons learned on the road.
A Team
Result: Lost – 230 runs to 239 runs
This was a tough outing for the A Team, struggling to find rhythm against a strong St Catherine’s side. Amelia and Georgia were the top-scoring pair with some determined batting, while Martha earned Player of the Match for her efforts with the ball. Mila was recognised for her batting resilience. Not our finest performance overall – we’ll need to work on settling in quicker when playing away from home.
B Team
Result: Lost – 256 runs to 279 runs
A close-fought contest for the B Team, who came up just short. Lyla was named Player of the Match, with a brilliant all-round effort. Harriet also delivered an excellent performance. Lyla and Hattie combined to score the highest partnership of 14 runs, showing strong communication and intent at the crease.
C Team
Result: Lost – 261 runs to 287 runs
Another competitive match where the C Team showed promising moments. Michelle was named Batter of the Match for her composed stroke play, while Amelie earned Fielder of the Match for her sharpness in the field. Isla and Michelle scored 20 runs between them as a pair making them the top scorers across all four matches.
D Team
Result: Win – 250 runs to 239 runs
The D Team brought home a great win, with impressive contributions from Katherine and Diana – the latter claiming two wickets to swing momentum. Naya was deservedly named Player of the Match for a strong all-round performance.
Despite the mixed results, the players showed grit and glimpses of brilliance across all teams. With continued practice and confidence, we look forward to bouncing back stronger in our next fixtures.
U13 C and D v St Teresa’s
U13s D Team
Result: Lost 258–295 vs St Teresa’s
The U13s D team put in a good effort but were outplayed by a strong St Teresa’s side, who consistently hit boundaries to build a solid lead.
Heidi and Penny were the top scorers for our team, adding 19 runs in their two overs. Penny was named Batter of the Match for her strong performance.
Mara took Bowler of the Match, with Heidi also bowling consistently and earning a special mention.
A challenging game, but the team showed good spirit and individual efforts.
Year 10 Hard Ball Training Session
The Year 10 cricketers enjoyed a hard ball training session this week in preparation for matches after half term.
U14 A v Howard of Effingham
Once the thunderstorms had passed the U14s had lovely evening weather for their game of cricket.
We opened the batting with Arina and Aoife setting a good bar. Next up was our best batter of the day, Bailey, who scored 14 runs. As the batters came through we lost a few wickets but set a good score of 249 to beat.
Into the bowling and doing really well, the girls kept the runs down, Sophie having the best over, taking a wicket and not conceding any runs! The game became very close, coming down to the last ball. All scores tied with Howard needing just one run off the last ball to win the game, but a dot ball bowled by Steph meant the game was a tie. Both teams scoring 249 and conceding 3 wickets.
Howard voted Bailey as best fielder and Emma as best batter.
