Welcome to Notre Dame
Notre Dame is an Independent Catholic Day School for girls aged 2-18, in 26 acres of beautiful Surrey countryside, only 20 minutes from South West London. We warmly welcome families of all faiths and none. Our all-round education puts our students front and centre to deliver the best academic results. We want to inspire a love of learning and build the foundations on which our students can grow and develop, with confidence, kindness, boldness and a sense of self.
Why Choose Us?
At Notre Dame, our students are at the centre of everything we do. As you walk through our front door, you will feel a strong sense of belonging. That’s because we are one connected community from the very youngest to the very oldest students.
The ethos of our progressive foundress, St Jeanne – who wanted girls to make a positive difference in the world, is the beating heart of our school. This rich heritage underpins strong values in a space where students have the room to learn and explore, fuel passions and learn life-long skills. Being an all-girls school is empowering. It means learning without limits. We believe all ambitions are valid and we encourage each and every student to create their own futures.

Building Confidence,
Nurturing Talent
Judged by ISI to be ‘excellent’ across the board, our Prep School forms the foundation for our pupil’s educational career. Everything we do is underpinned by a strong academic grounding in a safe, exciting and stimulating learning environment.
We have high expectations of our pupils, encouraging them to excel in all areas of school life. We do not, however, want pupils to feel the pressure of those expectations and we work hard to allow our children to be children by providing them with a truly, rounded, exciting and challenging prep education. We believe in a mastery approach to teaching and learning where key skills and concepts are taught and understood before moving on, encouraging deep learning and thinking. We want our children to be inquisitive problem solvers and to use their imaginations for creativity and original thought; we are very proud of our strengths in drama, art, music, sport and languages and by our pupil-centred humanities curriculum. We are committed to the pastoral needs of our pupils. All children have a voice and all successes, no matter how small, are celebrated. We strive to educate our children to be good people with strong moral values and encourage all members of the community to stretch out a hand of kindness to others. Most importantly, our pupils look forward to coming to school and have a genuine love of learning.
Learning Without
Limits
Judged by ISI to be ‘excellent’ across the board, our Senior School is a busy and happy community brimming with the perfect combination of focussed energy and relaxed authenticity. Every student is provided with a broad, balanced and rigorous academic education which allows for continuity and progression whilst recognising that each girl possesses her own unique combination of gifts and talents.
From their first day in the Senior School, well-motivated girls are challenged by a balanced, yet wide-ranging curriculum, delivered by highly-qualified subject specialists. There are many opportunities for girls to develop their talents in Art, Drama, Sport and Music, as well as ensuring academic rigour in the core subjects, Languages and Humanities. We know our girls well and track our students’ progress carefully to ensure a high quality experience for each individual. Every girl has challenging, objective targets against which her development is measured. This means we can intervene quickly to assist us in keeping all students on track, to achieve above and beyond expectation.
In Year 7, all girls study the core subjects: English, Mathematics, Theology, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In addition three Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish, French and German) are studied as well as Latin, History, Geography, ICT, Music, Drama, Art, PE, Swimming, Textiles Technology and Food Technology.
At GCSE and Sixth Form, each girl has an Academic Mentor who provides individual support and advice as part of our integrated academic/pastoral system. Parents are kept fully informed of their daughters’ progress and are welcome partners in the educational process.
Becoming Future-Ready
Our Sixth Form is known as ND6 and is a vibrant community where there is a lot of hard work as well as a lot of laughter. As part of the whole school but utilising a purpose-built sixth form centre, the emphasis lies in strong academic achievement coupled with numerous opportunities to develop and foster the strengths of each individual in a caring and stimulating environment
Our Sixth Form is a natural progression in the education process at Notre Dame but we also offer a welcoming, supportive environment to students who join us from outside, enabling them to integrate fully. We build on skills and values that develop into confident young women, ready to take their roles in society.
