🧑‍🍳 Food Club: Flaky Pastry Masterpieces!

This week in Food Club, our talented KS3 chefs rolled up their sleeves and got creative in the kitchen! Using the remaining half of their flaky pastry, they crafted golden sausage rolls — and practised key culinary skills including rolling, shaping, sealing, glazing, and of course, baking to perfection. ✨
A delicious way to build confidence and technique — well done, chefs!

🥧 Year 10 Bakers Explore the Science of Lemon Meringue Pie!

Today, our Year 10 bakers became kitchen scientists, diving into the delicious world of edible chemistry through the art of making lemon meringue pie! ✨

They explored the science behind each layer:

🧈 Shortening in the pastry creates that perfect crumbly base.
🍋 Gelatinisation in the lemon curd thickens it into a smooth, glossy filling.
☁️ Foam formation in the meringue traps air, creating those signature fluffy peaks.

A brilliant blend of baking and science, and a tasty way to learn!
