Owls

This week we made named lanyards whereby the children found their name on a wooden slice and then practiced their cutting skills and knot skills to cut string, thread it through the hole and then tied a knot to make a loop to attach the lanyard with a safety catch. There was also much learning of the flora and fauna and the children are becoming more familiar with the different types of trees. They formed the first letter of their name with the dried leaves found on the ground and they did a ‘Leaf Rubbing’ activity and saw the different shapes and detail of the leaves formed on paper as they rubbed a crayon over them.

Reception

The girls were most helpful in picking up sticks that fell in the storm last weekend and snapped them to fit into a bag to take to Forest School. We saw that the wind had blown the Autumn leaves onto the site. As we considered safety around the campfire, we thought best to sweep the dried leaves away from the fire circle. The girls got to work practicing their knot skills tying the sticks they gathered with a coil knot to make a broom which they used to sweep.

Well done team!
