“We have been educating young women for more than 400 years and we know that a single-sex educational environment works for girls.”

Heads’ Welcome

Notre Dame has always been a visionary and future-facing school with a unique sense of community underpinned by our foundress Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac who instilled the importance of a whole approach to education.

The academic, creative, physical, moral, and intellectual challenges expected in all good schools, complete with state-of-the-art facilities, are balanced with fun and laughter and a trusting and compassionate atmosphere, which enables everyone within our community to fulfil their potential.

Rich Heritage, Modern Outlook

The Order of the Company of Mary Our Lady was founded in Bordeaux in 1607 by Jeanne de Lestonnnac to educate girls of all faiths, and is the oldest recognised educational order in the world. Today, there are more than 300 CoMOL schools, educational foundations and projects across 26 countries. Notre Dame School in Cobham is the only one in the UK.

Mission, Ethos & Aims

Mission

‘We are all educators… accompanying young people in their efforts to build their lives for today and tomorrow.’
Saint Jeanne de Lestonnnac
Foundress of the Order of the Company of Mary Our Lady

Notre Dame is a Catholic Independent Day School with a strong ecumenical tradition. Our school is built on a 400-year living tradition embodied by the Order of the Company of Mary Our Lady, though we respect the faiths and cultures of all members of our community. We believe that fulfilment comes through the recognition and nurturing of individual potential in all areas of endeavour.

Mission, Ethos & Aims

Ethos

Notre Dame is a warm and vibrant community. We believe in a holistic education as well as academic excellence. We want all our pupils to feel secure, known and loved because it is our firm belief that children who have a sense of happy belonging do well. This is as true for the smallest children as it is for the oldest students. Whilst we are a faith setting, we welcome families of all faiths and none, regardless of our own traditions and expect our students to behave with respect, dignity and compassion.
