The Digital Leaders Team, ranging from Years 8-12, delivered an assembly to Years 5 and 6, respectively, about the use of technology – predominantly the use of laptops and OneNote – in the Senior School.
When a student enters the Senior School, they are given a laptop to use in lessons. On the laptop is the app, OneNote, on which, teachers can upload the PowerPoints delivered in lessons, worksheets, and homework. Students are added to OneNote classes for each subject at the beginning of the year, and are not taken off it, so the work is always accessible, even after the school year is over.
The Digital Leaders provide assistance to anyone who may need help with anything digitally related. We delivered an assembly to the Senior School about who we are and what we do, and in the Spring term, we went to the Bett Show to observe new inventions in the technology industry. We have also trialed new touchscreen laptops, which will replace our current laptops for the new Year 7s starting in September 2025 and fed the information back to the Senior Leadership Team.
In September, as the now-Year-6s transition into the Senior School – and will subsequently be issued a laptop – our role as Digital Leaders is to help them settle into a new way of learning as quickly and as smoothly as possible. We will be teaching them how to use their laptops, and in particular, OneNote, as we understand the jump from the Prep School to Senior School is a large one and the way of learning in the respective schools is quite different.
The use of technology in the Senior School has become a large part of learning since 2020, and we hope to extend that further in future years.
