Infant Good Work Assembly

🌾 Infant Assembly: Advent

Infant Assembly - Advent

Learning About Advent in Today’s Assembly

This morning, Mrs Botham led a thoughtful assembly on the theme of Advent. She began by asking an important question: What is Advent? Together, we learned that Advent is the special time of preparation before Christmas, starting four Sundays before Christmas Day.

Mrs Botham explained the meaning behind the Advent wreath, a circle of evergreen branches that reminds Christians that God never changes. Around the wreath are candles, which symbolize the light of God shining in the world. Each Sunday during Advent, a new candle is lit until all four are glowing brightly.

We discovered that each candle has its own meaning:
Hope, Peace, Love, and Joy.

On Christmas Day, a final candle is lit to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

The assembly also introduced us to Christingles, a beautiful tradition that uses an orange, a candle, and other symbols to represent different aspects of the Christian faith. Mrs Botham shared how Advent is celebrated in different countries, showing that while traditions vary, the message of hope and joy is universal.

Congratulations to this week’s Stars of the Week and winner of the ‘Living Life To The Full’ Certificate.
