MUN Conference at Benenden School

Notre Dame Girls Shine at Model United Nations Conference

On Monday 1st December, a group of Year 10 and Year 12 students proudly represented Notre Dame at a Model United Nations (MUN) Conference hosted by Benenden School in Kent. This was the second MUN event for our girls this term, and it proved to be another fantastic opportunity for honing their debating skills.

MUN conferences provide students with invaluable experiences, helping them develop lifelong skills such as public speaking, research, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of global issues.

Our delegates represented Sweden, Costa Rica, and Libya, participating in a range of committees including:

  • Special Political and Decolonisation Committee
  • Human Rights Council
  • Disarmament and International Security Committee

Throughout the day, the girls engaged in dynamic debates on pressing global topics such as:

  • The question of establishing the right to be forgotten under International Human Rights Law
  • The question of preventing nuclear proliferation and promoting denuclearisation
  • The question of the political future of Indigenous Nations seeking recognition and autonomy

Congratulations to our delegates:

Anya-Bee B, Alexandra B, Leala B, Georgina B, Gainna C, Leah E, Alexa F, Clara H, Isabella M, Natasha M, Abirami R, Willow R, and Cristina R.

The girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are already looking forward to their next conference in 2026. Well done to all for a day of dynamic and fruitful debating—your teachers are incredibly proud of you!
