U14 Surrey’s
The U14s travelled to Tormead for the Surrey Tournament, with Tormead already in strong form after a 5–0 win over SWPS earlier in the day.
Our opening match was against SWPS, and the team produced a dominant display, controlling possession and creating numerous chances. Despite their attacking pressure and excellent teamwork, they were unlucky not to find the net, and the game finished 0–0.
Next up was Tormead, and what followed was a superb defensive performance from start to finish. The team showed real grit and organisation, with some of the best defending ever seen in a Tormead shirt keeping the hosts at bay for much of the game. Eventually, Tormead managed to break the deadlock late on to seal a 1–0 win, but the effort and commitment shown by our players were outstanding.
Special mentions go to Lexi, Poppy, Jess, and Amelia for their exceptional defensive work, and to Ava, who was superb in goal with a string of brilliant saves.
A great team effort and plenty of positives to take forward!
U18 Team v St George’s
In a hugely entertaining match, the team battled to an exciting 3–3 draw against a strong St George’s side, who had included several of their first-team players.
From the first whistle, the game was full of energy and intensity. The team showed real attacking intent, creating chances and matching St George’s for skill and determination. Goals came from a combination of sharp finishing and excellent build-up play, with every player contributing to a dynamic performance.
Despite being tested by some high-quality opposition, the team’s resilience and teamwork shone through. They fought back brilliantly to level the game and held firm in the closing stages to secure a well-deserved draw.
It was a thrilling encounter, showcasing both the team’s progress and their ability to rise to a challenge.
U12 Tormead Tournament
The team put in a strong performance throughout the tournament, showing great teamwork and determination. They started well with a 1–0 win over Tormead B, before facing some tough opposition. Despite battling hard, they lost 2–0 to Danes Hill, 2–1 to St Teresa’s, and 1–0 to Tormead A in closely contested matches.
In the 3rd/4th place play-off, the team met St Teresa’s again. After a tightly fought game, the result went down to a shootout, where St Teresa’s edged the win.
A special mention goes to Claudia, who delivered an outstanding performance throughout the day, showing great skill, effort, and sportsmanship.
U18 Surrey’s
We were proud to host the U18 Surrey Tournament, welcoming Lingfield and Freemen’s for an exciting afternoon of competitive hockey. The matches were played in great spirit, with all teams showing impressive skill and sportsmanship.
Our squad put in strong performances throughout, competing well against both Lingfield and Freemen’s in closely contested games. After some excellent end-to-end hockey, it came down to a penalty shootout between Lingfield and Freemen’s to decide who would progress.
Lingfield’s outstanding goalkeeping proved decisive as they held their nerve to claim a 3–0 victory in the shootout and advance to the next round.
A huge thank you to all teams for contributing to a fantastic afternoon of hockey, and to everyone who helped with hosting and organisation.
