Spanish Corner – Argentina (Part 2)

Argentinian Visitors

Last Friday, the Year 12, 13, and one Year 10 Spanish students had the wonderful opportunity to welcome students from the Company of Mary school in Argentina! It was an absolutely wonderful experience for language exchange, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.

We started the day with a lovely song performance from the Prep, and later we gave them a tour of the school. They absolutely loved it and said that our school was like a school from a movie! They then sat in a couple of our lessons, and it was very fun to share ideas with them about a poem that we were studying in English. After eating lunch together, we were all lucky enough to watch Legally Blonde! They were absolutely thrilled and were incredibly impressed by the costumes, set, and the talent of the girls here.

The Argentinians were all so kind and friendly, and we all feel so grateful to have had this chance to meet them! Talking to them and keeping in contact is an invaluable way for us to immerse ourselves in the Spanish-speaking world.

A huge gracias to Mr Fernandez for organising such a fantastic day – I am sure that it took a lot of time to organise everything, especially coupled with a last-minute missed flight and train delays! We are always grateful for every opportunity that we are given to immerse ourselves in Spanish culture, and I am sure that we will always remember their visit.

Review by Argentinian Students

Argentina Visitors with Year 1 and 2

Our day began with a lovely welcome from the young students of Notre Dame School, who sang us some sweet songs. Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to practise our English, while the students accompanying us practised their Spanish. We quickly became friends and shared stories about our lifestyles and cultural experiences. Both the students and their teachers treated us with incredible warmth and kindness, showing us around the beautiful school grounds.

We enjoyed a typical British student lunch: the famous “fish and chips.” But perhaps the highlight of the day was the chance to watch part of the play Legally Blonde, which the girls had produced themselves. It was extraordinary — truly worthy of the West End.

We left feeling a little sad, wishing we could have stayed longer, but grateful for such an amazing experience with wonderful people!
