Year 9 Theology Students Explore Big Questions About Marriage

Over the past few weeks, our Year 9 Theology students have been diving into some big questions about marriage: what it means, why it matters, and how different people understand it. As part of their lessons, they’ve explored perspectives from Christianity, Islam, and Humanism, sparking some truly brilliant conversations.

Instead of sticking to traditional essays or presentations, students took a creative approach by using our Innovation Space to produce their own podcasts. They researched, scripted, recorded, and edited episodes that examined marriage as:

A sacrament in Catholic Christianity
A sacred contract in Islam
A personal commitment in Humanism

Some podcasts even featured interviews, debates, and quiz-show formats, showcasing their creativity and collaboration.

It’s been fantastic to see students so engaged, not just with the content but with each other’s ideas. They’ve demonstrated real respect for different beliefs and asked thoughtful, challenging questions. This project has been a wonderful example of learning that is both deep and dynamic.
