Tormead Novice Gymnastics Competition Report

The annual Tormead Novice Gymnastics Competition brought together an enthusiastic group of young gymnasts from Years 4 to 8, all eager to showcase their developing skills and passion for the sport. The event featured two core disciplines: a set vault and a set floor routine, both designed to test technique, control, and confidence.

Throughout the day, every gymnast demonstrated impressive determination, resilience, and commitment. Many girls overcame personal challenges—whether it was nerves, new skills, or performance pressure—and rose to the occasion with maturity beyond their years. Their effort and team spirit were clear for all to see, and we could not be prouder of the progress and performances displayed across all age groups.

A special congratulations goes to two standout performers:

• Amelia (Year 8) – achieving an outstanding 2nd place in the U13 category.

• Aryeta – delivering a fantastic performance to secure 2nd place in the U10 category.

Both gymnasts showed excellent execution and composure, earning well-deserved podium finishes.

A huge well done to all the girls who took part. Their attitude, perseverance, and joy for gymnastics made the event a great success.

We look forward to building on this momentum in future competitions and seeing the continued growth of our talented gymnasts.

Year 3 Match Report – Milbourne Lodge & Downsend

Last week, the Year 3 girls took to the court for two exciting fixtures against Milbourne Lodge and Downsend, showing fantastic enthusiasm, teamwork, and growing confidence in their match play.
In both games, the girls demonstrated brilliant energy from the first whistle. Their commitment to moving into space, supporting teammates, and applying the skills they have been working on in lessons was clear to see. There were some excellent passages of play, determined defending, and moments of real attacking creativity.

Against Milbourne Lodge, the girls settled quickly, passing the ball with increasing accuracy and showing impressive determination when competing for possession. Their teamwork stood out, with every player contributing positively to the flow of the game.

In the fixture versus Downsend, the team rose to the challenge once again. They worked hard to apply feedback from previous matches, showing better positioning, confident running with the ball, and perseverance against strong opponents. Their resilience and willingness to keep trying new skills were truly admirable.

Across both matches, the girls represented the school brilliantly. They supported each other, celebrated small successes, and grew in confidence as the week went on. Most importantly, they played with smiles on their faces and demonstrated a genuine love of sport.

A huge well done to all the Year 3 players for their effort, positivity, and sportsmanship. We are incredibly proud of how far they have come already this season and look forward to seeing their continued progress.

U11 Netball v LEH Match Report

U11 Netball v LEH

The U11 Netball teams enjoyed a challenging fixture against a strong LEH side, with our A–D teams all facing competitive and well organised opposition. While the results did not fall in our favour on this occasion, the matches provided valuable experience and many positives to build upon.

Across all teams, there were encouraging signs in attack, with players showing growing confidence on the ball and making good use of space. Passing combinations improved as the games progressed, and there were some excellent attempts to move the ball quickly through the court into the shooting circle. Defensively, the girls worked hard to apply pressure, with several strong interceptions and determined marking demonstrating good awareness and effort.

Despite the challenging score lines, the U11s showed resilience, teamwork and a positive attitude throughout. The players should be proud of their commitment and willingness to learn against tough opposition. These fixtures have highlighted clear areas of progress, and with continued training and match experience, the teams are well placed to keep developing as the season continues.

Despite the result, the girls worked well together in attack, creating several strong scoring opportunities, and their defensive effort improved as the match progressed. Their perseverance and positive attitude were clear to see.

A Team Match

The A team also faced a strong GHS side and, although they were unable to secure a win, they gave everything on court. Their movement, passing, and teamwork were impressive, and they continued to work hard right up to the final whistle. The commitment shown by every player was commendable.

U9 C & D Netball vs MHS – Match Report

Sports Posts U9 C & D Netball v MHS

Our U9 teams travelled to MHS this week for a great afternoon of netball, with both the C and D teams putting in determined performances and showing real progress throughout their matches.

D Team Match

The D team produced an exciting contest, narrowly losing 2–3 in what became a dramatic finish. After trailing 0–3 going into the final quarter, the girls showed fantastic resilience and teamwork. Their defensive pressure increased, passing became more confident, and they were rewarded with two well earned goals in the closing stages. Despite running out of time to level the match, their spirited comeback was a highlight of the afternoon and a credit to their determination.

C Team Match

The C team also played with great enthusiasm and demonstrated strong skills across the court. Their movement, spacing, and defensive marking improved as the game went on, and they created several promising shooting opportunities. Unfortunately, despite their effort and good build up play, they were unable to convert their chances and finished on the losing side. However, their teamwork and technical ability were clear to see, and there is plenty to build on going forward.

Both teams should be proud of their efforts, attitude, and sportsmanship. Well done, U9s!
