Hi everyone! As the head girls and prefect team, we would like to remind you that we will have our annual RAG week next week, from Tuesday 7th to Friday 10th of October.
RAG week stands for ‘Raising and Giving’ week, and every year we organise a series of exciting events involving the Senior School in order to raise money for charity. Last year, they raised an impressive £4188! All of the money we raise this year will be donated to the ODNS Cobham outreach as well as our chosen chaplaincy charity, Nerve Tumours UK.
This year, we have organised many popular activities, as well as a few new activities which have just been introduced as well. A letter has been sent to parents with details of the costs of the prepaid activities, however there will also be fun events such as sweet sales, raffle tickets, and doughnut sales which would require you to bring in your own money on the day.
This year, we are bringing back the popular bake off – a competition where you bake a sweet treat inspired by the theme of the year. This year, our theme is ‘autumnal’, and we look forward to seeing – and judging – the wonderful creations. They will all be sold at a bake sale on the same day, so you will all have a chance to admire and taste them. Of course, prizes will be available for the most creative cakes.
In addition, Years 7 and 8 are in for a treat this year, because you will have the chance to be involved in a silent disco, and a session of bracelet making, which we are launching this year.
There will also be 2 special bracelet-making sessions for the prep school at 2:10 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Of course, we can’t have RAG week without our whole school mufti day. On Thursday, you will have the chance to dress up inspired by our theme of the year – iconic characters. This basically means that you can dress up as anyone from iconic movie characters, book characters, historical figures, or celebrities as well. The sixth form will be dressing up every day of RAG week, so look out for our costumes!
This year, we are introducing a completely new event: our sign to win! There will be two signs on two sheets of fabric, and you can sign your name on either one (or both). They will both run throughout the week at break and lunch. The premise of the first one is that you use a nerf gun safely to aim at the sheet. If it lands on your name, you win a small prize. At the end of the competition for the second sheet, an allocated 6th former or teacher will use the nerf gun to aim at the sheet. Whichever name it lands on will receive an exciting prize.
We are so excited to organise RAG week this year, and we hope to see you getting involved in all of our fun activities. Remember to bring in some money during the week – it all goes to charity, and our goal is always to help others whilst having fun at the same time.
