Each year group in the Senior School has one day a year as a ‘Reflection Day’, with time off-timetable as a whole year group with an opportunity to deepen the students’ spirituality and understanding of the world around them.
On Friday last week it was the turn of Year 11, and on Thursday this week it was Year 13.
The students in Year 11 and in Year 13 were encouraged in different ways to reflect on some words of God the Father written in the book of the prophet Isaiah:
“You are precious in my eyes, and honoured, and I love you.” (Isaiah 43:4)
These beautiful, affirming and inspiring words are worthy of reflection from anyone. Isaiah wrote these words many hundreds of years ago, but the words of God the Father apply every bit as much to us today as to the people living at the time of Isaiah. The words are not meant simply for ‘other people’, they are meant for each of us, they are meant for me, they are meant for you. When God says, “You are precious in my eyes …” he means you.
What a beautiful prayer it makes to use these words of the Father with the very slightest adaptation:
I am precious in God’s eyes, and honoured, and I am loved by God. Thank you God.
