🌼 Infant Assembly – The London Marathon
As 40 Notre Dame girls proudly took part in the Mini London Marathon last Saturday, the timing could not have been better for a special assembly led by Ms Sargeant celebrating this iconic event.
Ms Sargeant began by explaining what a marathon is, why people choose to run them, and sharing the rich history of the London Marathon. She also highlighted one of the event’s most colourful traditions, runners taking part in fancy dress, and showcased some memorable costumes worn over the years. These included the famous deep sea diving suit worn by Lloyd Scott in 2003, which saw him complete the marathon in a staggering 5 days, 8 hours, 29 minutes and 46 seconds.
The assembly also touched on sporting achievement at the elite level, noting this year’s sub two hour performance by elite runner Sebastian Sawe, the fastest time ever recorded at this event at 1 hour, 59 minutes and 30 seconds!
The assembly concluded with photos of the Notre Dame Prep girls wearing their running bibs at the marathon. The girls congratulated all the Infants who took part, celebrating their achievement as they wore their medals with pride.
Congratulations to this week’s Stars of the Week.
Happy Birthday Dhriti and Zara!
