On Thursday evening, the Year 5 Performing Arts Showcase took place in the Montaigne Theatre.
The showcase platforms the girls’ work in Dance, Drama and Music. The performance opened with an abridged version of Shakespeare’s comedy, ‘Twelfth Night’, bookended by opening and closing dance routines.
Audiences were greatly impressed by the high standard of Shakesperean acting demonstrated by such a young cast. The energetic dance routines were incredible and brilliantly complemented the celebratory feel of the play. This was followed by Year 5 performing a dazzling choral work, ‘Jonah Man Jazz’, by Michael Hurd, which was in keeping with the maritime theme of the play.
The girls were supported by live keyboards and drums, which helped these talented young singers lift the roof of the theatre with their wonderful vocal skills.
