Y2 Topic - Roots, Shoots and Juicy Fruits

A Strong Start to Our New Topic: Roots, Shoots and Juicy Fruits

Year 2 have made an excellent start to their new topic, Roots, Shoots and Juicy Fruits, through a range of practical, outdoor learning experiences.

The children worked collaboratively to prepare the raised beds by carefully removing weeds, creating an ideal environment for planting. We were very grateful to Mrs Purgavie for providing runner beans, which the children planted with great enthusiasm. They also constructed supportive pyramid structures to enable the plants to grow and thrive.

In addition, the class planted a selection of wildflowers to encourage biodiversity and attract bees and birds to the school grounds, supporting our commitment to environmental awareness.

Year 2 are now taking on the ongoing responsibility of caring for the raised beds, including regular watering and monitoring of plant growth.

We look forward to seeing the progress of the flowers and beans in the coming weeks.
