Year 8 Reflection Day

Year 8 Reflection Day

On Thursday Year 8 students enjoyed the final Reflection Day of this school year. The theme for the day was ‘Knowing Ourselves, Knowing Others, Knowing God.’ Over the course of the day the students participated in a range of different activities: watching a film, group discussion, an opportunity for some silent reflection in the outdoor environment and some team games.

One of St Jeanne’s teachings is ‘Live up to your name.’ With the school name being ‘Notre Dame’ each of the Year 8 students spent some time learning more about Mary, Mother of God, by looking at some of the different Marian statues that there are in the school. The students were encouraged to reflect on the qualities of Mary revealed by the different images, and those qualities that they aspire to attain for themselves. It being the month of May, the month of Mary, the day finished with some prayers in the chapel and the opportunity to adorn a small statue of Mary with flowers the students had made to reflect some of the qualities they had thought about during the day.

Well done Year 8 for participating in their Reflection Day with enthusiasm and engagement.
