The Year 7 trip to Little Canada began in the best possible way — with bright blue skies and an excited group ready for the adventure.
Spirits were high as we boarded the ferry, and many students made the most of the journey by heading straight to the top deck, enjoying the fresh sea air and taking in the stunning coastal views. On arrival at the centre, there was no time to waste as activities began straight away. The schedule was packed, and it didn’t take long for favourites to emerge. Survivor, the Vertical Challenge, and the Big Swing were all huge hits, with students showing real determination and teamwork.
One of the highlights came during laser tag, where Mr Routley took the game a little too seriously. “Team YOLO” were a force — particularly during capture the flag — although it later turned out that the reason he couldn’t be eliminated was the setting on his headband wasn’t working!
The second day brought strong winds and currents, meaning watersports had to be cancelled. While this was a disappointment, the group quickly adapted, throwing themselves into climbing and aeroball, which proved to be excellent alternatives and just as enjoyable.
By the final day, confidence was high despite the heatwave, with many students shining on the trapeze. The girls powered on into the afternoon, with archery skills clearly in evidence- we may even have discovered a few future Robin Hoods!
As the trip came to an end, students left with smiles, laughter, and plenty of unforgettable memories. The coach journey home was made all the better by much-needed air conditioning after the rising heat of the last day. Overall, a successful trip.
