ABC Showcase 2026

On Friday 3rd July, Notre Dame Senior School proudly hosted a special celebration event to showcase the outstanding work produced through our ABC (Above and Beyond the Curriculum) programme. Over the course of the term, students have been working independently to create projects that reflect their passions, interests, and the issues they believe matter in today’s world.

The ABC programme encourages pupils to go further than their usual timetabled subjects, developing skills in independent research, creativity, critical thinking, and self-management. This year’s projects spanned a remarkable range of disciplines, including art, literature, STEM, design technology, and modern languages.

On display were:

  • Thought-provoking essays and creative writing pieces
  • Original artworks and digital designs
  • STEM investigations and engineering models
  • Exploration of historical and political periods of significance
  • Design technology prototypes and product concepts
  • Language projects exploring culture and communication
  • Media projects, including documentaries and podcasts

Many students chose innovative formats to present their ideas, from carefully researched documentaries to engaging podcasts, each one demonstrating not only subject knowledge but also confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of personal voice.

We were delighted to welcome parents and carers to the event. They had the opportunity to explore the exhibition, talk to the students about their work, and join us in celebrating the impressive achievements of their daughters. The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was one of pride, excitement, and genuine admiration for the dedication and creativity on display.

Final prizes for the ABC programme will be announced at this week’s Prizegiving, where we will formally recognise some of the standout projects. However, every student who took part has accomplished something significant: taking ownership of their learning, seeing a long-term project through from idea to completion, and sharing it confidently with others.

We are incredibly proud of all our ABC participants and look forward to seeing how they will continue to go “above and beyond” in the years ahead.
