Alumna Elizabeth’s Clothing Brand is a ‘Green StartUp’ Finalist

Alumna - Elizabeth Hadley - Bumboo Green StartUp Finalist

Huge congratulations to alumna and textiles entrepreneur Elizabeth (Bessie) Hadley, whose pioneering new clothing brand Bumboo London is a ‘Green StartUp’ finalist in this year’s South East UK StartUp Awards. The Awards recognise innovation, ambition and resilience, and culminate in a national ‘Ideas Fest’ final in September.

A Cambridge and Imperial College Masters graduate, Elizabeth has combined her expertise in bioscience and biotechnology to design the next generation of sustainable clothing using Bamboo Lyocell. The debut range was launched to great acclaim last year and continues to win legions of fans. Said Elizabeth: “From day one, my vision for Bumboo has been to prove that ethics and aesthetics don’t have to be at odds; that with the right materials, innovation and intent, we can create something that feels as good as it looks, without compromising the environment.

“We are incredibly proud to see our work validated by the expert panel of judges. This milestone really does highlight our mission to make a brand that’s better for both people and the planet.”

If Bumboo wins the regional finals in June, Elizabeth will be heading to the national stage at Ideas Fest in September – we wish her the best of luck 😊
