U11 IAPS Hockey Qualifiers

U11 Hockey

This week all of the Year 6 girls have been involved in a match against another school or tournament. It has been wonderful to see the girls playing matches again as well as using the skills they have covered in class and learning something new through the experience.

On Monday we had an U11 hockey team playing Tormead, which was a very exciting match, with lots of goals and fantastic play. The final score was Tormead 3 – Notre Dame 2, well done to Bella and Una who were awarded player of the match.

U11 Hockey v Rowan

On Tuesday Rowan brought 4 teams to play Notre Dame and again, it was a wonderful afternoon of hockey. We won 1 match, drew 1 match and lost 2 of the games.

Finally we also took the U11A team to play in the IAPS Hockey Qualifiers at Hurstpierpoint College on Tuesday. This was the first big tournament the girls have attended since year 4 and they played so well, all coming away with something to work on and something they enjoyed about the experience. In our Pool matches we won 1 and drew 2 and lost 1 game, which put us in the Plate competition. In the Plate competition we played Cumnor House, which after 12min ended in a 0-0 and went to golden goal. Cumnor scored the golden goal, which meant Notre Dame we knocked out of the tournament.

It has been a great week of sport for all the girls involved.

ORPO Update

We have had an updated from OPRO with regards to mouth guards, which were fitted at the beginning of the month. Due to a COVID outbreak in their lab, it will be a further 2 weeks until we receive the impressions. Gala v Rowan

Gala v Rowan

It was so lovely to be able to host our first Swimming Gala since March 2020. Notre Dame welcomed Rowan to the pool on Thursday afternoon.

We had 50 girls swimming in the Notre Dame team from Year 2,3,4,5 & 6.

I know everyone was really nervous but the girls all performed fantastically, giving 100% effort.

It was lovely to see the support given to all the swimmers – perfect teamwork.

Many thanks to the Staff who came to help run the event and thanks to Rowan for making it such a great experience for everyone.

The final score was Notre Dame 129 – Rowan 111 points.

Next Gala 5th Oct

We have another Gala away on Tuesday 5th October at Guildford High School – This gala will involve teams from Year 4,5, & 6.

The letters inviting the girls to this Gala will be sent out today via firefly, please let me know asap if your daughter can attend.

Swim Squad on Tues 5th Gala is still on.

Although I am at the Gala on Tuesday 5th Oct the Infant Swim squad and the Year 3 & 4 swim squad will be covered by Mrs Mulcahy.

Update regarding Year 5 & 6 Swim Squad

I have decided that all the girls coming to the upper junior swim training sessions should all be invited to join swim squad, some of the swimming times are so close it doesn’t seem fair to not involve them all. This does however mean that not all the girls will automatically get to swim in the gala’s but hopefully they will enjoy and benefit from the additional training sessions.

Consent letters will be sent out to the year 6 girls involved before Thursday’s swim squad.

Thanks

Mrs Jones
