U13 Surreys Tournament

The U13 Hockey Team had some tough matches in this county tournament last Friday! Well done to the team that played so nicely against really challenging oppositions up at Epsom College.

U13 A and B v Manor House

Very cold week this week where the U13s hosted Manor House for both an As and Bs fixture and its was a successful double occasion with the As winning 4-0 and the Bs winning 1-0.

U12 v Prior’s Field

The same night the U12s went to Prior’s Field for again, a successful evening with the As in an extremely close match and drawing 2-2 with some great saves by Poppy T in goal. The Bs had a great night winning 5-1, the team overall played excellently and if it wasn’t for the Prior’s Field GK who had an amazing game we could have had plenty more goals. Our stand out player of the game was centre midfielder Lottie.

U14 A – C Teams v Tormead

Our U14 teams put out 3 solid performances against a competitive Tormead side.  Due to traffic the teams had to keep focused for an hour before the opposition were able to arrive which was a credit to all 3 captains on the night.

U14 A - C Netball Teams v Tormead

U14A –  (Capt Lucy F) a good solid performance with excellent teamwork by all players, the U14A team played consistently well and have continued to improve this term.  Against Tormead the team came away with a 14 – 9 win.  Both Michelle E and Lucy F were jointly voted Most Valuable Players by the opposition.

U14B – (Capt- Poppy S) despite a number of late squad changes due to illness, the team focused well and worked hard to secure the win by 9 goals to 7. All 7 players were instrumental in the win, focusing well and working as a team.  Valentina was voted Most Valuable Player by the opposition.

U14 C – (Capt – Niamh G) our U14 C squad have grown as a cohesive unit this term and showed how they can work together again in this match.  Under the leadership of captain Niamh G (who was voted the Most Valuable Player by the opposition for the second consecutive match) the team worked hard to get the basics right and in doing so, won the match 8-6.

Overall our U14 netball teams represented Notre Dame really well in terms of approach, team work and leadership.

Interesting Fact!

I played my last game for England Netball, my 33rd cap at Wembley Arena on 22 April 2002 against Australia (we lost sadly)!!  I then had to retire due to injury so missed the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester as a player but commentated throughout!
