U13 A and b Hockey Teams v KGS

Hockey

U12 A v Freemen’s

Another beautiful wet and windy fixture night for the U12s saw us battle the traffic to get over to Freemen’s School. This meant we had very little time for a warm up and the girls need to be ready from the off. Winning the first push back we were straight into attack mode with a nice carry from the back by Cece all the way into the opposition circle, she pulled the ball back for Poppy to shoot where the keeper made a great diving half safe, there was a goal mouth scramble and Evelyn forced their defender to save the ball right on the line. The game then opened up, and we were caught in a few overload counter attacks by Freemen’s, who eventually took advantage of this and calmly slotted the ball in the goal to take the lead. The rain wasn’t stopping and neither was the end to end action with both teams having lots of chances but not able to capitalise. Half time we were 1-0 down. At half term the girls spoke about ensuring we worked up and down together, reduced the overloads that they were creating against us, and with the ball we needed to lead on angles and create better space for each other. The second half started and again both teams had chances, but we were much more connected and able to reduce any real threat in the circle. In attack we were a lot better in numbers and positioning and gained the reward of a number of short corners, that came to no result with Freemen’s strong defending. The girls stayed persistent with their attacking, a great carry round the baseline by Evelyn to cross it for Lottie to score the equaliser. This then brought the full time whistle.

Final result City of London Freemen’s 1, Notre Dame 1

U12 B v Freemen’s

Another wet and cold Hockey game for the U12B’s, but they weren’t phased, winning 3-0 against CLFS.

Olivia K played a strong, skillfull game as centre midfield scoring all 3 goals for a hat trick. Emilia R, Hollie J and Olivia N did some great pressing and assisting as midfielders. Our defence with Amelia H, Maya L and Penny E (GK) held strong and kept the team safe from danger, putting in some great tackles.

U13 A & B v KGS

The girls started nice and strong to the game but couldn’t get the reward in the circle, and the game started to even out with both teams having chances. KGS then started to gain momentum, won several penalty corners, where some brave strong defending by Daisy kept them at 0-0 but eventually a chance came and they were able to calmly finish in-front of goal to take the lead. The girls fought back and with some persistence and slight of hand Bailey managed to nutmeg their keeper to even up the game before half time. At half time the girls spoke about having to work harder off the ball to create space for each other, and in the second half did this really well creating a number of chances, testing their keeper. Some chances from Arina close in to the keeper who stood up to the challenge. Great defending from Chloe and Aoife meant that Poppy didn’t have too much to do in the second half and plenty of great work in midfield meant that Charis created a couple of great chances on the right hand side that really tested their keeper. Finally after taking their centre back on 1v1, eliminating to the right and getting a rocket of a shot across goal from Charis, we took the lead 2-1. The game was a really well matched. Finishing Notre Dame 2, KGS 1.

U14 B v St Teresa’s

On Thursday the U14 B Hockey team had a 7-a-side match at St Teresa’s in the rain! For some of the girls it was their first experience of playing in a competitive game. ND grew in confidence as the game went on and created some good opportunities but were denied by some fine goalkeeping by St Teresa’s. St Teresa’s won 4-0 but ND enjoyed the match and played well.

The B Team

The B team played well throughout their game, working hard for one another and gaining some good interceptions in defence. Strong link up play by the centre court players and some good shooting resulted in a pleasing 23 goals to 7 win for ND, congratulations to all the players. The A Team

Our U14A team played a very competitive Manor House squad this week with Notre Dame taking the win 15-10.  At half time ND were 10 – 2 up, a good half of the match, lots of turnover and conversion to goal.

Manor House came back after half time very focused and played some really strong netball, taking the second half 5 – 8.  Our U15A team held on well and managed to secure the win.

MVP as voted by the opposition was Michelle E.
