Prep Sports Board May 22nd

U8 - U11 Guildford District Athletics

U8–U11 Guildford District Athletics Report

We began the week with our Notre Dame Prep girls taking part in the Guildford District Athletics competition. This event followed the QuadKids format, where every athlete competes across four disciplines: long jump, distance run, sprint, and a throwing event. In addition, our Year 5 and 6 girls also took on extra challenges, including the 200m, high jump, and shot put.

It was fantastic to see all the girls fully engaged, demonstrating determination, resilience, and excellent teamwork throughout the day. Every competitor contributed to a series of strong performances across the board, resulting in Notre Dame finishing an impressive 3rd place overall out of eight schools.

There were many standout achievements to celebrate:

• Miabella delivered an outstanding performance to win the Year 5 High Jump.

• Grace V and Andie Ray showed great courage and enthusiasm while trying shot put for the first time.

• Theia R performed brilliantly, securing 2nd place overall in the U10 competition, helping the U10 team to finish 2nd.

• In the U8 category, Marina achieved a fantastic 1st place overall, while Elsie placed an excellent 3rd. Their combined efforts led the U8 team to win their age group.

A huge congratulations to all the girls for their effort, sportsmanship, and positive attitude. They represented Notre Dame with pride and should be extremely proud of their achievements.

Fitness Games

Fitness Games final at Seaton House School

Notre Dame entered two teams into the Primary School Fitness Games Final at Seaton House, having qualified for the final for the second year in a row, which is a fantastic achievement for the school. Both teams showed excellent effort, determination, and teamwork throughout the competition.

Notre Dame’s first team achieved a strong overall score of 324 points, finishing 6th out of 16 schools. The team performed consistently across the four WODs and competed well against a very strong field. Pupils demonstrated resilience, excellent teamwork, and a positive attitude throughout the competition, particularly as the workouts became increasingly demanding. The sunny weather during the final, rather than rain, created a more enjoyable atmosphere and added to a very positive experience for the pupils.
Notre Dame’s second team finished with 159 points and showed great perseverance and enthusiasm across all events. The pupils continued to work hard throughout the competition, supporting one another and representing the school with fantastic sportsmanship and determination.

Both teams should be extremely proud of reaching the final for the second consecutive year and of the way they approached the competition. The pupils represented Notre Dame brilliantly, displaying excellent encouragement towards teammates, and a real willingness to challenge themselves throughout the day.
