Year 5 Creative Adventure at Watts Gallery
Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic and inspiring trip to Watts Gallery, where they learned about the life and work of the artist George Frederic Watts and explored his powerful, thought‑provoking paintings. The girls were equally captivated by the work of Mary Watts, discovering her beautiful ceramics and iconic gesso tiles.
During the visit, the girls sketched directly from observation before taking part in a hands‑on activity back at school. Using mudroc, they created their own gesso‑style tiles, experimenting with pattern, texture and design.
It was a wonderfully creative day, full of artistic exploration, learning and fun for everyone involved.
