In our final Prep School assembly of the term we sang a hymn, ‘Thank you for the Cross.’ The words of the hymn refer to Jesus giving himself completely, that our sins would be forgiven. As the hymn then continues to reflect, Jesus gave himself out of pure and total love for humankind. Let’s personalise that: Jesus gave himself out of pure and total love for us, for you, for me.
The week to come, Holy Week and then Easter Day, is the greatest week in the Christian calendar. Christ suffered and died on the cross and then was raised from the dead for the forgiveness of sins and to bring the promise of life everlasting.
Thank you indeed, Jesus, for the cross, and thank you, that through God the Father you Jesus were raised to new life, a new life which, God-willing, we will all one day share.
Wishing you every blessing during Holy Week and at Easter.
