Prep Science Corner May 22nd

Year 6

Year 6 have been buzzing with excitement in science, blending creativity with hands-on discovery! They’ve created stunning botanical illustrations while learning all about plant structure, then taken their curiosity further by exploring how plants are classified. Using microscopes, they zoomed in to reveal the hidden world of stained onion cells—sparking plenty of “wow” moments along the way. The fun didn’t stop there, as they also investigated the big question: Is yeast alive? Watching bubbles form and hunting for signs of life made for a thrilling scientific adventure. A fantastic showcase of curiosity, creativity, and brilliant young scientists in action!

Year 3 and 4 STEM Club

This week in STEM Club, our Year 3 and 4 pupils became budding scientists as they explored exciting chemical reactions!

Year 3 and 4 STEM Club

Using vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, they observed fizzing, bubbling reactions and discussed how gases are produced. They also investigated convection, discovering how heat moves through the air, and had great fun applying this learning by keeping ping pong balls and balloons suspended in the air using moving air currents.

It was a fantastic hands-on session full of curiosity, prediction and discovery—well done to all our enthusiastic young scientists!
