🌼 Infant Assembly – Empathy Day
🌟 Good Work Assembly Focuses on Empathy Day 🌟
In this week’s Good Work Assembly, the girls were introduced to the important theme of Empathy Day by Ms Sargeant.
She began by explaining that Empathy Day is a special time at school when we learn how to be kind and understand how other people feel. This year, Empathy Day will take place on Thursday 12th June.
The girls explored what empathy means, learning that it is about trying to imagine how someone else feels and showing kindness and care towards them. Through thoughtful discussion, they considered different situations and reflected on how they might feel and respond.
Ms Sargeant shared how the school will be celebrating Empathy Day. The children will enjoy reading stories about feelings during their library sessions, practise being kind and helpful to others, and take part in a range of themed activities in breakfast club and library club. There will also be a special empathy themed activity in the dining hall on Friday.
The assembly also highlighted why empathy is so important. When we show empathy, we build stronger friendships, help others feel happy and safe, and support each other more.
Simple examples were shared to help bring this idea to life. If a friend feels sad, empathy might mean asking, “Are you okay?” or offering a comforting gesture. If someone is left out, it might mean inviting them to join in a game.
The message was clear and powerful:
Empathy means “I care how you feel.”
We are very much looking forward to celebrating Empathy Day together as a school community.
Congratulations to this week’s Stars of the Week.
Happy birthday Delaney!
