Ciara at her Final National Schools Biathlon

National Schools Biathlon Finals

Last weekend, an impressive group of girls from Years 4, 5, 7, and 13 represented the school at the National Schools Biathlon Finals. Qualifying for this event is a significant achievement, with hundreds of competitors entering the earlier qualifying rounds. Each of our athletes performed with determination, composure, and great competitive spirit.

Although there were a few moments of organisational chaos on the day, the girls adapted brilliantly, delivering strong efforts in both the run and the swim. Even though I wasn’t able to attend in person, it certainly sounded like the team had an exciting and rewarding experience from start to finish.

Fitness Games

The Winter Fitness Games saga continues with Year 11 setting the tone early, with Montferrant and Lestonnac matching each other stroke for stroke during their seven minute rowing challenge. In the final moments, Montferrant edged ahead, claiming first place by an impressive 70 metres.

Workout Two proved even tighter, with all four houses finishing within just 14 reps of one another— Montferrant securing another narrow victory by a single rep.

Next up were Sixth Form. Montferrant once again led the way in the rowing workout, finishing 100 metres ahead of the competition.

Workout Two was closer, but Montferrant maintained their momentum, winning by 7 reps.

By the end of the afternoon, there was no doubt: House Montferrant were the clear Winter Fitness Games champions.

Across Years 9–13, House Montaigne earned a strong second place, with Montferrant crowned our overall Winter Fitness Games Champions for 2026.

Winter Fitness Games – Years 9 & 10

Our Year 9 and 10 pupils brought fantastic energy and team spirit to this year’s Notre Dame Winter Fitness Games, taking on two exciting fitness challenges designed to test teamwork, determination, and resilience.
The first event, “Row Hard or Row Home,” saw houses rowing as far as they could within the time limit. Every team member had to contribute, meaning communication and smooth transitions were key. The encouragement within teams was brilliant to watch, and Montferrant took a commanding lead, finishing less than 200 metres ahead of the other houses.

Next came the fast paced AMRAP challenge, “Skip it, Push it, Squat it, Jump it.” Pupils worked together to complete as many reps as possible before the clock ran down. This event produced a thrillingly close finish, with Montaigne just edging ahead, only 12 reps clear of Montferrant!

Both workouts encouraged pupils to support one another, think quickly, and demonstrate great technique while representing their houses.

After combining all metres rowed and all reps completed, we are delighted to announce that the overall House champions were Montferrant! A huge well done to every pupil who took part.
